NBC Covers Creation Care, Caleb, Kaleo
On July 14, 2024, we gathered ecumenically with Glencliff United Methodist Church, family, and friends to focus on God’s good creation and how to care for it. The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) showed up to make a video and write a story about the service.
Today, as Hurricane Milton makes landfall in Florida and promises catastrophic and unprecedented destruction, loss of life, and financial hardship for the people, we are reminded of that service.
Pastor Caleb preached in July, “As glaciers melt and sea levels rise, and greed wants to run the show, the people of God must show up!”
Yesterday, the video “showed up” on the NBCnews.com front page. It reminds us that in the face of the catastrophic climate crisis, in the face of Hurricane Milton and the many storms to come, our faithfulness to care for God’s good creation must “show up” not only for the victims of this storm but proactively to protect and prevent the next disaster in every way we possibly can.
