Come

How you get here

We meet on Sundays at 10 AM at the Coleman Community Center at 384 Thompson Lane. When you arrive, there will be signs to direct you and people ready to welcome you. We have coffee/tea time starting at 9:30 AM and start the children’s storytime and service promptly at 10 AM. We conclude at 11:30 and welcome everyone to help us clean up, and join in for picnicking and playing outside around noon.

Text us if you get lost or need help finding us!

We are real people

One of our core values is authenticity. That means we seek to know and be true to who we are and what we are called to. It means we are real people, we don’t know everything and are not perfect. We invite you to join us by wearing comfy clothes and being yourself. As awkward as it can be to go somewhere for the first time, we hope you will be able let your guard down so we can get to know you.

We are a different breed of church

Church is changing. There are many of us now who aren’t satisfied with our faith just being about attending a Sunday service; but desire to go deeper both inside and out. We want to imagine a new world for the church where we can be true to the calling we hear deep in our bones and we read about in the scriptures. We want to face injustice with the tenacity of the prophets and nurture spiritual development with the care of the apostles.

We have organized Kaleo differently than most churches in our area are structured. We invite you to check out our shifts in thinking and our core values which will give you insight into this new and different way of being church in today’s world.

If you’re more interested in the ways we are different as well as our denominational affiliation see our church-family page.

We need you

We need you because you represent a part of our community that we don’t yet have at our tables. We need you because you are a unique person with gifts and skills and a presence that is valuable. We need you because there are others like you and you will know what they need. We need you because we can’t represent our neighborhood without your help. We want you to be a part of our church-family.

What to expect

We do things a little differently in our Sunday Holiday services, for example, we often sit at tables and have time to discuss. However, everything is well explained and you should be able to follow along with the provided handout just fine.

We receive communion (bread w/GF available and unfermented grape juice) every Sunday after the children rejoin the service. We picnic together (bring your own picnic) outside after services, weather permitting, which continues our worship, and is a great time for connection.

Go

As soon as we say “come” we also say “go.”

We want you to come, but part of coming here is also being open to going. Going back home to the neighbors, the kids at the corner park, and the elderly man who struggles to get his groceries upstairs. Whether your going is local or global, finding yourself “sent” is the very thing we hope you hone in on while you are with us. “Kaleo” is a Greek word for “the called”. Being called indicates both coming and going.
